My current work starts with drawings which are then abstracted and altered before being carved into MDF board. The relief images are reminiscent of vivid topographic maps. My focus is a balance of line, shape and color with particular attention to composition. I enjoy exploring the contrast between curves, angles and mixed materials. Visually, I am drawn to rhythm and repetition with inspiration from traditional woodworking techniques and modern design. I am intrigued by the physical process of woodworking and art, the problem solving and the endless possibilities for experimentation.

Bio
I moved to Utah in 2005 after graduating from the University of
New Hampshire with a degree in furniture design and woodworking. After making furniture for several years in New Hampshire and Massachusetts I
returned to school to get my Masters of Arts in Teaching degree from Westminster
College. I have been teaching art at a local middle school to students since 2011.
